Lumines the Square Puzzle Game

Lumines is a puzzle game that first was released on the PlayStation portable or PSP. It is now on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well.

In the game blocks fall from the top of the screen. They are split into four pieces. Each block is made of two colors. The idea of the game is to match colors together to make blocks. A line passes over the screen and when it touches blocks it clears them. You would want make as many blocks as you can for more points. Like in Tetris you lose when everything piles up to the top and nothing else will fit.

The game has many skins. Skins are the stages you play on. Each skin has blocks that look different and the sound effects and music are different each stage. Another neat thing is that as you do actions on the game it makes sounds, adding to over all sound of each stage.

There are several different games modes in the games. Lumines Live the Xbox 360 version has challenge mode, VS CPU, puzzle mode and time attack. In challenge mode you play to last as long as you can to clear thru stages and unlock more skins. In VS CPU you play against computer opponent to try to make them lose before you do. In time attack you try to clear many squares before time runs out. In puzzle mode you solve puzzles with certain pieces.

Lumines like most puzzle games might seem simple but it can be very fun. I enjoy playing it myself.
